Children's Mantra
A Meditation Practice Adapted to a Child’s Age and Development
The Children’s Mantra is a simple mantra practice
designed especially for children.
The way the mantra is practiced changes according to the child’s age and stage of development.
A child may receive the Children’s Mantra
only when a parent or guardian has already received ELM Meditation instruction.
For Younger Children
While the parent or guardian is meditating, the child practices the mantra while walking.
The child gently repeats the mantra while walking for approximately 5 to 10 minutes,
with the practice time gradually increasing according to age.
There is no need for a young child to sit still and meditate.
The practice is designed to allow the child to experience the mantra
in a natural and age-appropriate way.
From Age 10
From around age 10, the child begins practicing the mantra while seated.
The meditation time gradually increases with age,
approximately one additional minute for each year of age.
The practice remains simple and gentle, without requiring concentration or effort.
From Age 15
From age 15, the child may receive the Love Mantra,
the first mantra in the regular ELM Meditation program.
